ALEX GARCÍA
A huge fan of social media, activism, psychology, and the indie industry, I believe in video games to spread diversity and create safe spaces to engage in new conversations. With these ideals in mind, I have volunteered at COGAM, and all my projects to date integrate these values into their design, including my ongoing project "Historical Rol" and my recent incorporation into the writing team of GameEffectMX. You can find me on the internet´s abyss as @gaymingbeetle
What I´ve worked in:
- Fabricia in Wonderdisco: Global Game Jam 2024. As a competitor in the jam, I managed a team of 11 people so that we could publish a playable game loop. As the producer, I tried to fit everyone's schedules into the 48 hours of competition. I also designed the core of the gameplay and mechanics with Lucas Soriano and Gonzalo Perez. The production method consisted of a mix of Scrum, Kanban, and FDD. There were time frames and deadlines with an online color-coded system (that the whole team could see) to indicate who was working on said task and what the state of it was (not started, in progress, to be revised, etc). As for the design, we made sure the game could be modular, creating more levels after the jam (if wanted) would be easier because of the documentation we as the design team had, and also because the difficulty (concept-wise) was made in a way that making combinations and stacking conditions would extend the levels significantly (kinda like a Candy crush or Tetris formula, no new pieces but combinations).
- Violet in Disguise: GDD. This project helped me create a documentation template used to navigate almost all the aspects one could need to think about while designing a game in the first instance. As a junior dev, I worked on the core design and narrative structure. It has not yet been developed past the design concept and explained mechanics. Open for investors and indie companies.
